Advanced Poles and Brackets CC was formed in Sept 2003 to take over the CCTV industry business carried out by Anglo Natal Finance (Pty) Ltd which was formed in 1987 as a leasing / finance company. In the early 90’s fiscal legislation was passed which essentially made leasing and financing a “banks only” prerogative. It was therefore decided to seek other entrepreneurial areas to invest in – the investment being not only financial, but also encompassing fabrication and innovation skills.
In the early 90’s South Africa was experiencing a rapid increase in urban crime, and we envisaged a greater need for crime protection products. Initially CCTV work was done for Callguard (now Group 4 Securicor). It became increasingly obvious that CCTV was in its infancy and the necessary brackets and poles etc. were not readily available. The standard “off the shelf brackets“ sold by most vendors were not ideal for the required camera position. We also found that the majority of such brackets were generally fabricated out of mild steel, were of poor quality and were maintenance intensive. The market clearly required custom-made brackets and poles. We therefore decided to concentrate our efforts in this area, and specialized in the fabrication of stainless steel brackets and poles and camera housings with the emphasis on safety, durability and low maintenance.
As time passed we added new innovations to our product line. Initial wallmount brackets were the forerunners of Swingarm brackets which enabled better viewing, easier installation and safer single man maintenance. Ceiling mount brackets led to clamp type girder mounts. Clamp type became combinations of telescopic mounts, etc. A simple 3m pole became 6 m hinged poles. The market then required affordable simple-to-operate 12m canter-lever poles, which consequentially became part of our product offering. These were followed by a large variety of goosenecks, sliding/rotating dome brackets, rain covers etc.
The vibration kit for domes and fixed cameras is a logical requirement that was specifically developed for the diamond industry due to the intense vibration of the screens, which under normal circumstances will not allow a picture of any quality to be made in such an important sector of the diamond recovery process.
The experience gained while resolving the challenges encountered by our customers afforded us the opportunity to gain a great deal of experience in our field of expertise, and enabled us to build more varied products to meet increased customer demand.
